“In a city where life is lived on the sidewalk, where you’re always walking, sometimes you gotta have a place to sit.”
- Sarah Goodyear, theatlanticcities.com
NYSeat was born out of the constant dilemma New Yorkers face:
"Where to sit?"
NYSeat solves this problem elegantly and cleanly: a single-legged stool is covertly constructed into the form of a backpack, offering a safe and clean place to sit at any time.
Design and construction exploration.
Form and gestural exploration.
Mocking up a first prototype.
NYSeat is constructed of cotton canvas for the body, leather and cotton webbing for the straps, metal hardware, and a vinyl bottom for durability and easy cleaning. The seat top is a laminate veneer, with a wooden pole as the supporting leg.
